Text

movement 1:

All alone, together.

movement 2:
text by Rebecca Gayle Howell

Leave your worry
Leave your sorrow

Enter warm light
Glowing child-like

Leave the shadow
Leave tomorrow

You are, we are
Breathing, now, our breath

Special Performance Requirements

This piece is designed for engagement. It requires performers to sing a few noes, and also for the audience to sing. The first section is a call and response between performers, where the audience can participate. The second section requires learning a short melody.

To be honest: this piece has the best effect when the melody is not taught to the audience directly before the performance. It is best when some people from the audience already know it, and the others simply get to listen to those around them singing. The melody shouldn’t feel like a pedagogical exercise, but rather, a familiar tune that has always been at the back of your mind.

The music and a recording of the melody will be available in the Audio Guides section below as soon as the score is available for sale.
